A recent study by Agri SA has found that South Africa's Statistics Agency significantly underreported the contraction of the agricultural sector, suggesting a reform in data calculations is necessary. The agency initially reported a 15.5% decline in the farming sector, but the study indicates a more modest decrease of 5% to 6%. Adjusting for inflation, it recommends an increase of 10.8 billion rand in agricultural GDP, suggesting that the economy may have grown by 0.7% instead of the reported 0.4%.
