A collaborative international study led by Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Chang Gung University, and Johns Hopkins University reveals significant findings after a decade of research on influenza viruses. The study found that H3N2 influenza virus exhibits genetic fragment recombination, potent replication ability, and toxicity, possibly leading to severe complications in patients. This research, integrating artificial intelligence, virology, and clinical epidemiology, provides evidence of the potential link between influenza virus genetic recombination and human diseases, impacting future influenza vaccine development and public health strategies. The study was published in the top international journal 'The Lancet Microbe'.
