Starting from December 1, 2023, China implemented a unilateral visa-free policy for citizens of Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Malaysia, and other countries, allowing holders of passports from these nations to enter China for business, tourism, visiting relatives, or transit purposes for up to 15 days without a visa. A recent study by Sinolytics revealed that this policy has started to show positive effects on the tourism industry, with China's entry and exit numbers in the first quarter of the year already reaching 92% of pre-pandemic levels. The report also noted the policy's potential impact on tourism in the second quarter remains to be seen, especially with the upcoming summer season.
