On July 2, 2024, the Suao-Hualien Highway in Taiwan was hit by mudslides at five locations, with each resulting in significant blockages. The East Maintenance Engineering Division stated that the mudslides have exceeded 1,500 cubic meters, and immediate repair efforts are underway. Due to continuous heavy rain in the Hualien mountain area, two more mudslides occurred on the highway, adding to the repair challenges. Road users are advised to be cautious and stay updated on road conditions and weather alerts before traveling in the affected areas.
