Sumitomo Chemical, a Japanese polarizing film manufacturer, is planning to cut 30% of its polarizing film production and shut down a production line in Tainan and one in South Korea, which will result in 4,000 job cuts globally. Concerns arose regarding the status of Sumitomo Chemical's subsidiary, Sun Chemical Technology in Taiwan, but the company assured that operations are normal with no layoffs. With Sumitomo reducing production, this is expected to help stabilize the supply and demand of polarizing film. Sun Chemical Technology, Sumitomo Chemical's production base in Taiwan, mainly handles the production and sale of polarizing plates, color photoresist, and sputtering targets, employing around 1,800 people in Taiwan. Nankang Management Bureau confirmed the company's stability and emphasized that the rumors of layoffs, including the recent ones in March, are inaccurate.
