As summer approaches, more people opt for comfortable flip flops, but chest and critical care specialist Dr. Huang Xuan warns of three dangers associated with wearing them daily, especially for five groups of people. Risks include slipping and falling, tripping over uneven surfaces or objects, and getting cut by sharp objects on the ground. Dr. Huang recommends choosing shoes with good traction in crowded or wet areas, while flip flops are more suitable for outdoor settings like the beach or park. Additionally, certain groups such as overweight individuals, those with ankle or joint injuries, diabetes patients, those with inner ear or brain injuries, and elderly individuals should avoid wearing flip flops for prolonged periods due to increased risks and lack of support.
