Reported 12 months ago

As the scorching summer heatwave hits, with record-breaking temperatures, the Japan Meteorological Agency has provided guidelines for pet owners to prevent and handle heat-related issues. Studies show that numerous dogs suffer from heatstroke during walks and indoors. The agency advises avoiding hot daytime walks, checking ground temperatures even in the cooler mornings and evenings, ensuring dogs have enough water, rinsing them with tap water, maintaining indoor temperatures below 26°C, proper ventilation, avoiding leaving pets in closed cars over 25°C, and recognizing symptoms of heatstroke for prompt treatment to prevent fatalities.
