Summer Heatwave! Taitung City Hall Recycling Center Fire Alerted and Extinguished, Lithium Battery Ignites Dense Smoke

A fire broke out at the Taitung City Hall recycling center on More Live Road in Taitung City around 10:30 am on June 28, possibly ignited by lithium batteries mistaken for recyclables. Firefighters and emergency personnel rushed to the scene to contain the blaze, using large machinery to prevent further spread of the fire. After nearly 1.5 hours of efforts, the fire was successfully controlled with no casualties. The fire caused dense smoke to spread over a 2 km radius, and firefighters actively dispersed the recyclables to assist in extinguishing the flames, reminding the public to be cautious of potential dangers during recycling to avoid similar accidents.
