According to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there is a rapid increase in confirmed cases of the latest KP.3 variant of the coronavirus, with the proportion of KP.3 cases rising from 25% to 33.1% in the past two weeks. While the overall situation is not out of control, the CDC emphasizes caution as the summer increases human interactions, increasing the risk of virus transmission. The CDC spokesperson mentioned that the KP.3 variant is expected to become a major cause of COVID-19 infections. With 39 states in the US experiencing a rise in new cases, especially in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Hawaii, the CDC recommends early vaccination with the upcoming new vaccine expected to provide better protection against variants, possibly by September.
