Sun Moon Lake Restaurant Homemade Lotus Root Cake Moldy, Taipei Health Bureau to Inspect

Reported 11 months ago

A citizen who dined at a restaurant in Yangmingshan National Park brought home a homemade lotus root cake but found it moldy, prompting the Taipei City Health Bureau to dispatch officials for an inspection. The bureau will enforce regulations on food safety and hygiene standards, requiring the establishment to make improvements within a specified period. Failure to do so may result in fines ranging from 60,000 to 200 million NTD under the Food Safety and Sanitation Management Act. The bureau emphasizes the importance for food operators to properly cool and refrigerate products in response to the increasingly hot weather, advising consumers to reheat food thoroughly before consumption and to immediately stop eating any spoiled or questionable items to prevent health risks.
