In July 7, 2024, a man known as '阿昆' from the gang named Tian Dao Meng shot the president of the Sun Moon Society in Hsinchu, causing severe injuries. The assailant, surnamed Song, was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Supreme Court for attempted murder. The victim survived after undergoing emergency treatment. Song fled to Taoyuan and burned his car to destroy evidence, but was tracked down by authorities and identified through fingerprints on the vehicle sales contract. The original 19-year sentence by the Hsinchu District Court was reduced to 15 years by the Taiwan High Court, a decision upheld by the Supreme Court.
