Supervisory Yuan Opposes Expansion of Parliamentary Powers and Plans to File Constitutional Interpretation and Temporary Measures

Reported 8 months ago

On June 25, 2024, at 2:34 AM, the Secretary-General of the Supervisory Yuan, Li Junyi, held a press conference at 1:30 PM, expressing opposition to the expansion of parliamentary powers to uphold the separation of powers. After the 'Legislative Powers Exercise Act' takes effect, they will submit a constitutional interpretation and request temporary measures from the Judicial Yuan. The amendment to the act has been seen as encroaching on the Investigative authority of the Supervisory Yuan and infringing on the rights of the people, leading to a planned constitutional interpretation. This move aims to protect the balance and checks of democratic society and safeguard people's rights.
