On the morning of July 8, 2024, in Tainan City, a horrifying shooting incident occurred where Fishermen's Association director Lin Shijie was ambushed by a gunman at his doorstep at 5:40 a.m. and shot multiple times at close range in the chest, face, and neck, resulting in fatal injuries. Lin was rushed to Chi Mei Hospital in Yongkang but succumbed to his wounds after 30 minutes. Police are actively pursuing the suspect and surveillance footage of the incident has been released, showing the assailant ambushing Lin outside his home, shooting him, and fleeing the scene immediately. The investigation is ongoing.
