During Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Adelaide Zoo in Australia on June 16, 2024, where he announced the provision of pandas, protests from Uyghur, Hong Kong groups were held with banners raised stating 'Human rights more important than pandas'. A recent survey by the Australia-China Relations Institute at the University of Technology Sydney revealed that 70% of Australians distrust China, view it as a security threat, and believe Australia's economy is overly reliant on China. Regarding potential military conflict with China, 35% support Australian military intervention to defend Taiwan, with concerns over espionage, political interference, and economic dependency on China also highlighted.
