Tahini Recalled in Canada for Salmonella Risk

Reported about 1 year ago

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for Al’Fez brand natural tahini sold nationwide in Canada, due to a Salmonella contamination in 160-gram jars with specific UPC and 'best before' dates. Consumers are advised to check their pantries for the affected product and dispose of it or return it to the store of purchase. While no illnesses have been reported, Salmonella infection symptoms include diarrhea, nausea, fever, and stomach cramps, and can be severe for vulnerable populations. If experiencing symptoms after consuming the recalled tahini, seek medical attention and follow proper hygiene practices to prevent the spread of the bacteria.
