On the morning of June 22, 2024, a man surnamed Shi, suspected of robbing a jewelry store, was swiftly apprehended by the police after only a few hours of escape. The robbery occurred at a jewelry store in Clearwater, Taichung around 11 a.m. on the same day, where the surveillance camera captured Shi entering the store and fleeing after committing the crime. The suspect pretended to be interested in buying jewelry but suddenly resorted to robbery, stealing gold jewelry worth around 300,000 NT dollars. Despite the store's surveillance camera malfunction and the locals' trust, the police managed to track down Shi, who attempted to sell a gold necklace for 80,000 NT dollars to cover debts and expenses. The police arrested Shi at a hospital and recovered the stolen jewelry and over 10,000 NT dollars, investigating further into the motive and possible connections.
