The COVID-19 situation in Tainan City continues to escalate, with the Health Bureau reporting a total of 11,310 emergency room visits last week, marking a 23% increase from the previous week. Out of the 995 critical cases so far, 81% are aged 65 and above. As the sixth wave of the pandemic hits, with a significant number of fever patients turning out to be COVID-19 positive, the public is advised to self-screen at home if experiencing symptoms and wear masks in crowded places. The city government is emphasizing adequate medication supply for COVID-19 treatment and the need for triage and hospital infection control measures. A recent meeting focused on prioritizing the usage of certain antiviral drugs for COVID-19 cases, while reminding everyone to maintain personal hygiene habits to prevent the spread of not only COVID-19 but also other respiratory infections in the rising temperature and post-mask mandate era.
