Reported 8 months ago

Amid increasing concerns over cases of unclaimed bodies and deaths of elderly individuals living alone, Tainan city has faced several incidents where public officials were unable to assist due to privacy laws, leaving local representatives to stay with the bodies for hours. Mayor Huang Wei-Che suggested that police stations can contact family members for assistance in such cases. The Tainan Civil Affairs Bureau is working on procedures to help in situations where the deceased individuals' identities are unknown or family members cannot be located, ensuring proper handling and burial proceedings after the bodies remain unclaimed for a certain period.
