On the first day of implementing violation points for YouBike in Taipei, 18 violations were recorded, all related to riding on sidewalks. Violations include riding on sidewalks, running red lights, cycling in the opposite direction, not yielding to pedestrians on sidewalks, using a mobile phone while cycling, carrying passengers, etc. Violators will accumulate points leading to suspension of bike usage. Authorities are prioritizing cracking down on sidewalk riding as a major violation. Some users complain about incomplete bicycle lane planning and facilities leading to fines, while others express concerns about potential traffic accidents if all bicycles are on the road, leading to an increase in fines for cyclists.
