Taipei and New Taipei police departments are facing challenges in collecting over 600 million and 4 billion NTD in accumulated unpaid fines, respectively. Various efforts including regular meetings and asset inspections are being made to recover the outstanding amounts, with concerns raised by city councilors over the low execution rate and the need for better strategies to improve collections. Measures are in place to cancel fines older than 5 years and convert them into debt certificates for further pursuit through legal channels.
