Taipei Bar Vandalized by Man Claiming to Hear Distress Calls from Inside

Reported 7 months ago

On June 11, 2024, at 10:00 PM, in Taipei's Ximending, a bar on Kunming Street was vandalized back in September last year. The 50-year-old suspect surnamed Xiao smashed windows, doors, and security sensors with chairs and tiles. When caught, he claimed to have heard someone in distress inside and wanted to rescue them, attributing the vandalism to this. He was sentenced to 30 days of detention for property damage. The bar, originally set to open in October, fell victim to the mysterious incident. Police found Xiao still at the scene after being alerted, where he gave the puzzling explanation of wanting to save someone inside.
