Taipei City Government Announces 0.25% Increase in Consumer Price Index for June

Reported about 1 year ago

The Taipei City Government's Department of Budget, Accounting and Statistics revealed that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for June was 107.64, showing a 0.25% increase from the previous month and a 2.20% increase from the same period last year. Factors contributing to the rise included higher electricity costs in the summer, increased hotel accommodation fees and domestic tour costs during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, rising international airfare prices, haircut service fee hikes, and reduced discounts on footwear. However, increased discounts on transportation and communication equipment, decreased fuel costs due to international oil price adjustments, increased discounts on health food products, lower betel nut prices, increased vegetable supplies, and expanded discounts on women's clothing partially offset the inflation. Further analysis showed price increases in clothing by 3.40%, housing by 3.05%, healthcare by 2.60%, food by 2.52%, and education and entertainment by 1.79% compared to the same period last year.
