Taipei City Shortens Average Red Light Duration by 21 Seconds at 740 Intersections to Reduce Summer Sun Exposure in July and August

Reported 7 months ago

As the hot summer approaches, Taipei City's Traffic Engineering Office announced today (6/13) that to reduce sun exposure for motorcyclists and pedestrians, from July 1 to the end of August, the duration of red lights at 740 intersections will be shortened by an average of 21 seconds. This initiative aims to decrease the waiting time for motorcyclists and pedestrians. By adjusting the red light duration during off-peak hours, the office hopes to mitigate sun exposure and waiting time, especially during the high-temperature months of July and August, when the average temperature exceeds 30 degrees in Taipei.
