Taichung City in Central Taiwan serves as a hub for department store consumption, with the retail market showing strong opportunities. The overall consumption scale last year was close to 90 billion NTD, and it is estimated to surpass 100 billion NTD this year. Big players like Hanshin Department Store, Uni-President Enterprises Group, Cathay Life Insurance, and First International have been rushing to seize market opportunities. With the addition of new stores like Mitsui Taichung LaLaport, the retail market in Greater Taichung saw an increase of over 10 billion NTD in consumption scale last year. Various development projects are underway, including the highly anticipated Han Shen Continental Shopping Center and the Prince Plaza complex mall by Uni-President Group among others.
