Taipei Dome Concert Delayed as KMT Proposal Failed to Pass Second Reading

Reported 8 months ago

The possibility of holding concerts at the Taipei Dome may be further delayed due to a stalled proposal regarding the use permit issue at the Dome. The Nationalist Party Taipei City Councilor Chang Ssu-kang proposed a motion requesting the city government to inquire with the Ministry of the Interior whether the Dome's events held in 2017 were in compliance with the building regulations. However, the Taipei City Council session today did not approve the motion. Social Democratic Party Councilor Miaoli Poya suggested adding a note stating that the council's decision would not affect any changes to the permit, causing disagreements between parties and leading to the motion being put on hold. Public anticipation to hold concerts at the Taipei Dome remains, with the KMT party submitting a formal proposal to ensure the Dome's safety measures. Miaoli emphasized that the council's jurisdiction does not include permit changes for the Dome, and modifications should follow legal procedures. The fate of the proposal is expected to be decided tomorrow during the council's final session.
