The 2024 Taipei International Food Expo took place at Nangang Exhibition Hall 2 from June 26 to 29, featuring a 'Latin American Pavilion' jointly established by the Central American Trade Office and the External Trade Association, showcasing select products from 23 domestic and international importers to introduce high-quality Latin American products to Taiwan. The event aimed to enhance bilateral culinary exchanges by incorporating products such as seafood, beef, and agricultural produce from Latin American countries like Belize, Guatemala, and Paraguay into Taiwanese dishes, encouraging more trade and consumption. The pavilion highlighted the competitive and acclaimed nature of products like Belizean seafood, Guatemalan coffee, and Paraguayan beef in the international market, with Taiwan importing significant quantities annually. The event also emphasized the benefits of existing free trade agreements and economic cooperation agreements, providing tariff advantages and competitive market prices for local importers to source and present attractive products to Taiwanese consumers. The Latin American Pavilion featured a diverse range of products for sampling, including Belize's renowned Marie Sharp's hot sauce, Guatemalan coffee, lobster, shrimp, cocoa, beef, and more, allowing visitors to experience the high-quality ingredients from friendly nations. The event also included traditional cooking demonstrations and tasting sessions, enhancing the appreciation for Latin American cuisine and promoting these unique products to both business partners and the general public.
