On June 25, 2024, the Taipei City Disaster Prevention and Rescue Office held a 'Taipei-Japan Disaster Prevention Policy Enhancement Seminar' at the Disaster Response Center. Deputy Mayor Li Sichuan presided over the opening ceremony, inviting the Executive Yuan's Disaster Prevention and Rescue Office and other units to participate. Due to significant earthquakes in Japan's Noto Peninsula in January and Hualien in Taiwan in April, both countries suffered severe damage and are focusing on reducing the impact of large-scale earthquakes on cities. The seminar aimed to learn from Japan's post-earthquake recovery and reconstruction efforts, with Japanese experts discussing topics such as the impact of the Noto Peninsula earthquake on regional disaster prevention plans, public-private cooperation in Japan's support efforts, and earthquake disaster reconstruction preparations in Yokohama. Through this exchange of ideas among experts and practitioners, the event sought to enhance disaster resilience in Taipei City and mitigate the effects of earthquakes.
