On June 8, 2024, Taipei City councilor Zhang Fenyu shared on Facebook that attendees' phones had their photosensitive components damaged by laser lights at the Lantern Festival. Following the 'Wormhole of Time' installation at the Central Park Lantern Festival, numerous people found purple spots on their phone cameras. After inspection, the photosensitive components were found damaged by the laser lights, prompting 9 individuals to seek compensation from the city government. Taipei City has received 9 damage claims, compensating a total of 35,000. City officials emphasized they take the matter seriously and promised improved safety measures for laser installations in the future.
