Ko Wen-je, chairman of the Taiwan People's Party, criticized that the new housing policy did not alleviate the housing pressure for young people but rather contributed to speculation. He pointed out that the 0.5% interest subsidy under the policy is inadequate compared to the rise in housing prices. Ko emphasized the need to focus on building social housing, increasing property tax for multiple properties, implementing a vacancy tax, and preventing the rental housing black market to achieve housing justice. Ko also warned of the potential risks of the policy fueling speculation and outlined his proposals to curb rising house prices and improve the housing market.
