On July 9, 2024, Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je, who is implicated in a corruption case, has been released on bail of 12 million TWD as ruled by the court. The vice executive director of KMT Think Tank, Lin Tung, mentioned that the increase in bail from 5 million to 12 million TWD indicates the seriousness of Ko's alleged offense and aims to lower the risk of him fleeing. Lin questioned Ko's claim of not knowing about a bribery bag with 500 million TWD and then miraculously retrieving it the following year. Concerned about the possibility of evidence tampering given Ko's influence, Lin urged for a strict review and supported continued appeals by the prosecution, emphasizing the importance of not allowing leniency from the court.
