According to CTi News, on June 28, 2024, at 4:52 AM, Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen led various department heads to visit New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-yi. When asked by the media if she is interested in running for the next KMT chairman election, Lu Shiow-yen stated that she strictly observes boundaries, not responding to election affairs, party affairs, or political election issues during her 5 and a half years in office in Taichung to be accountable to the citizens. She also emphasized the importance of city diplomacy for urban development, mentioning plans for visits abroad to boost city progress.
