During last year's presidential election campaign, DPP legislator Huang Ying-chun from Chiayi County expressed support while attending an event for the then-Kuomintang candidate Ko, prompting the DPP's Central Evaluation Committee to find her in violation of party rules on 6/28 and suspend her for 3 years. Huang released a statement saying she has resigned from the DPP starting on 7/3, feeling betrayed after years of dedication to the party.
