A report by the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board revealed that last year's Taipei Metro accident, where a train collided with a construction crane causing 1 death and 10 injuries, was due to the failure of all 5 safety design checkpoints. Despite attempts to stop the train, it crashed into the crane at 43.7 km/h within 43 seconds. The report highlighted various safety mechanisms that were ineffective in preventing the incident, prompting improvements by the Taipei City Government and the transportation company involved.
