On June 13, 2024, at 10:02 PM, a physical altercation between metro police officers and a homeless person erupted at the Taipei Metro Jingmei Station, captured by onlookers. A homeless individual who had been occupying a charging area inside the station was reported and a dispute ensued with station staff before Officer Yu from the metro police's 2nd team arrived. Feeling provoked and attacked, Officer Yu lost control and pushed the person down, leading to the incident being recorded and widely circulated online. The metro police responded to the video, acknowledging the situation. While some criticized the enforcement as excessive, others pointed out that the video was incomplete to draw conclusions, questioning the actual events that took place. Following investigations, it was found that the homeless individual, surnamed Lin, often occupied the station's charging area and was reported by the public, leading to the clash with station staff.
