Taipei Metro's Priority Seating Policy Sparks Debate

Reported 11 months ago

The proposal to expand priority seating in Taiwan's public transportation, including revising the 'disabled, elderly, women and children' clause in the People with Disabilities Rights Protection Act to encompass 'those with other actual needs,' faced a setback as it failed to pass before the legislative term ended. This has reignited discussions on priority seating, especially after recent incidents on the Taipei Metro. The Social and Family Affairs Administration intends to gather public opinions and expedite the drafting process to resubmit the amendment, although it is uncertain if the Legislative Yuan will reconsider it this year.
