In response to criticism by Councilor Lin Yan-feng that the New Immigrant Centers in Wanhua and Shilin, Taipei, are sparsely visited, being referred to as 'Mosquito Centers', the Department of Civil Affairs has defended the expenditure of over 6 million yearly to operate these centers and provide services to Taipei's new immigrants; although audit findings pointed out low usage rates and limited translation services, the Department stated an overall increase in visits this year. Usage statistics and improvements were provided, highlighting a significant increase in visits compared to the previous year, emphasizing the need for continued improvement in catering to the city's large immigrant population.
