According to CTWANT, Taipei City Police Bureau has accumulated fines totaling 60.09 million NT dollars, including fines for traffic violations, illegal vendors, and drug offenses, most of which remain unpaid. Among the debtors are 24 individuals with outstanding fines exceeding 500,000 NT dollars each, with many being unlicensed vendors. Lawmakers suggest investigating whether debtors are attempting to evade payment deliberately and propose imposing restrictions on public services and benefits for fairness. Taipei Police Bureau indicated that despite a fine income of approximately 74.68 million NT dollars in 2022, only about 14.59 million NT dollars were realized, with a significant portion nullified due to uncollectible debts, particularly in drug-related cases.
