Taipei Police Chief Sentenced to 12 Years 6 Months for Bribery and Corruption

Reported 8 months ago

Former police chief Yeh Yu-hsin of the Taipei's Datong district was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison for accepting bribes totaling 2 million New Taiwan dollars, 1.09 million worth of virtual currency, and a second-hand Mercedes-Benz valued at 2.2 million as a birthday gift from the main suspect in the 'Taiwanese version of Cambodia' case. Yeh denied the charges but was found guilty of corruption, money laundering, and forging official documents by the Shilin District Court. The case originated from an illegal detention incident in the case where 61 people were unlawfully held, resulting in three deaths, with the main suspect 'Lando' Du Chengzhe implicated. Yeh was arrested after evidence was found in phone records linking him to the case.
