A police officer surnamed Li from the Datong Precinct in Taipei is suspected of leaking personal information of individuals to his Vietnamese mistress Wu Qiaoli, who is believed to be involved in online gambling. Both were searched and summoned on the 26th and transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutors on the 27th for suspected violations of personal data protection laws. Li and Wu were remanded in custody after questioning. The case is being investigated by various police units to determine if illegal benefits were received. Wu, the Vietnamese mistress, was also transferred to prosecutors. The Datong Precinct received a tip-off about the extramarital affair between the 50-year-old police officer and the Vietnamese woman who runs a health salon in the Wanhua District of Taipei, suspected of operating online gambling. Li is accused of using the police query system to access gamblers' personal information and leaking it to Wu. Both Li and Wu deny the allegations, with the Datong Precinct emphasizing a self-cleansing investigation with full cooperation ongoing with the prosecutors.
