In April, a person slipped and broke a bone in a 'high-rated' public restroom in Taipei, causing criticism from officials and citizens for the discrepancy between public perception and restroom ratings. While the Environmental Protection Bureau claims to have inspected all 6,890 public restrooms in the city, there have been 4,721 complaints from the public regarding issues like slippery floors and trash overflow from 2017 to April this year. Calls for increased inspections and improvements are being made to align restroom ratings with the actual conditions experienced by citizens.
