As heatwaves scorch Taiwan, Taitung County's Jinlun hit 41 degrees Celsius, marking this year's highest temperature, with reasons attributed to the scorching gusts; Taimali in Taitung followed at 39.6 degrees Celsius, and Taipei's Shilin District recording 39.1 degrees Celsius. Weather forecasts predict intense heat continuing for the next week, reminding to be wary of afternoon thunderstorms. Central Weather Bureau has issued high-temperature alerts for 16 cities and counties, signaling extreme heat conditions. Thai Sun, a weather expert, mentioned that the extreme heatwave would diminish after July 6, reducing occurrences of 37 to 38 degrees Celsius, although temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius still persist nationwide. Thunderstorms are expected in northern and eastern Taiwan and mountainous regions in the afternoon.
