Ambassador Shen Chang-ting, currently the head of the Taipei Representative Office in Japan, attended a gathering held by the Japan-Taiwan Friendship Association on June 20th, where he was recognized for his efforts in promoting Taiwan-Japan friendship over the past eight years. Speculation arose about a potential change in Shen's position, with hints from him suggesting the successor would be fluent in Japanese. Possible successors, such as Yeh Chu-lan and former National Security Council Secretary-General Su Chi-jen, were mentioned, but final decisions are pending from the Taiwanese government.
