After 60 years of operation, Taipei City’s first funeral parlor held a demolition ceremony today to mark its closure and transition into history. The site will be temporarily transformed into a parking lot and green park until November, with future plans to be determined by the city government. The closure ceremony was attended by Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, who witnessed the removal of the funeral parlor's sign as a symbolic end to its operations. Various city council members have suggested different plans for the site's future use, including as a government office building, long-term care facility, or public park, with public opinion being considered before any decision is made.
