The Taipei City Department of Transportation and New Construction Office have implemented a large-scale overhaul of road markings at the intersection of Zhongcheng Road Section 2 and Shidong Road in the Shilin District, Taipei City, to enhance traffic conditions in line with the city government's friendly transportation policies. The new 'Picasso road markings' with green color blocks and numerous white lines have puzzled and amused many citizens, making it difficult for them to navigate correctly. The revamped markings aim to improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and reduce conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians by introducing measures like reducing turning radii, enhancing pedestrian crossings, guiding traffic flow, and adding left-turn lanes, alongside pedestrian refuge islands for safer road crossings.
