During a special report and inquiry session at the Legislative Yuan's Economics Committee, the head of the National Development Council, Liu Ching-chung, announced the government's plan to invest 10 billion in the AI field. He mentioned that Huida's founder and CEO, Huang Jen-hsun, expressed intentions to establish a second supercomputer and AI research center in Taiwan, potentially in Taipei, Tainan, or Kaohsiung, with local authorities showing support. DPP legislator Chen Ting-fei suggested Tainan as a suitable location for the AI research center, highlighting the city's existing technological infrastructure and resources. The funding for the project will come from the government's AI-related budget, with a focus on startups and public infrastructure investments, as detailed by Liu. Plans are still in the development stage, with discussions on potential collaboration between multiple government agencies and the Economic Committee.
