Taipei Taoyuan Airport Upgrades to Next-Generation e-Gate for Convenient Customs Clearance

Reported 12 months ago

Immigration authorities are actively accelerating the replacement and upgrade of the existing automatic inspection customs clearance system (e-Gate) at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport to provide passengers with a more efficient clearance experience. The new generation e-Gate features integrated registration and clearance within the gate, supports multi-language modes, and enhances clearance efficiency. The second phase of the upgrade project is scheduled to take place from June 3 to August 1, allowing passengers to enjoy the new e-Gate experience without disruption to their travel routes. The Immigration Department has been deploying e-Gates at major airports and ports nationwide since 2011 to improve customs service quality, with over a billion people using the system. With the completion of the first phase and the commencement of the second phase in 2024, Taoyuan International Airport will have all new-generation e-Gates by the end of 2024, aiming to enhance clearance efficiency and overall airport ranking in the global competition.
