Taipei University Collaborates with Metal Center to Enhance Mountain Rescue with AI Recognition and 5G Drones

On June 15, 2024, at 2:03 am, the President of Taipei University, Zheng Xianzong, and the Chairman of the Metal Center, Lin Renyi, signed a memorandum of cooperation. With the witness of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Taipei University and the Metal Industries Research and Development Centre signed a collaboration memorandum aiming to utilize Taipei University's AI recognition technology combined with Metal Center's 5G communication unmanned drone interface to enhance communication and locate those in need during mountain rescues. The Ministry of Science and Technology guided the Metal Center in promoting 5G drone mountain rescue operations. Through a practical exercise in the Wuluo Mountain area of Taipei, three drone formations were utilized to quickly locate and confirm the status of individuals awaiting rescue, enabling swift assistance and enhancing rescue efficiency for the safety of hikers during mountain activities.
