Pan Qianshi on June 11, 2024, at 3:26 AM, the Criminal Investigation Bureau seized Ge's phone and computer. A well-known domestic chain fast-food store recently filed a report with the Criminal Investigation Bureau, stating that the company's official website's customer service system had received six random threatening messages since March, demanding a ransom of 300,000 NT dollars, to which investigation revealed the sender to be a female honor student surnamed Ge, a graduate of National Taiwan University who had previously worked in a government agency. She was swiftly apprehended within a week. Ge confessed that financial difficulties led her to commit the crime, and the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office on the 11th of this month charged her with attempted extortion under the pretext of financial gain. Ge, 49, sent a total of six threatening letters starting from early March, demanding the company transfer 300,000 NT dollars to a designated account within a specified time, or face poisoning. Authorities swiftly identified Ge, a resident of Xindian District in New Taipei City, after a digit forensic investigation and proceeded with legal action.
