Taipei University announced that its Medical School will shift from considering English proficiency to social sciences for admissions starting from the 115th academic year. The decision aims to adapt to the AI era and nurture students with a humanistic perspective. The change includes altering the entrance exam subjects and eliminating the English proficiency requirement for both recommended and self-applicants, replacing it with social sciences. This adjustment is in response to the students' already established English proficiency and the necessity of human social thought in the future AI-driven world. The new policy will take effect in the upcoming academic year, affecting current high school freshmen. Other medical schools such as China Medical University, Fu Jen Catholic University, and Mackay Medical College have also included social sciences in their selection criteria based on academic testing. Overall, the move aims to better prepare students for future challenges and advancements within the field of medicine.
