On June 27, 2024, the Taiwanese Mainland Affairs Council raised the travel advisory level to China to 'orange,' advising against non-essential travel to China, Hong Kong, and Macau. This decision was made in response to China's recent anti-separation measures. While tour operators expressed dissatisfaction, the Taiwanese government highlighted concerns for personal safety due to recent actions by China. The advisory, however, is non-binding and mainly serves as a precaution to Taiwanese travelers.
